Donegal League 2 Inishowen League 2
(Donegal won 5-4 on pens, aet)
Shane O’Gara pulled off two saves in a penalty shoot-out as the Donegal League advanced to the next round of the Oscar Traynor Cup in dramatic fashion.
With the first leg having ended 2-2 at Maginn Park in Buncrana before Christmas, all the expectations were that this would be another right game, and with a similar scoreline leaving it 4-4 on aggregate it was all left to the lottery of the spot kicks decider as even extra-time had still left them level.
Carr, Harkin, Seami Friel and Jack Parke all scored for the Donegal League while Banda blasted over.
For Inishowen, Peter Doherty, Eoin Murphy, Lee McLaughlin and Jamie McKinney were successful, but Jack Doherty saw his effort saved by O’Gara.
In sudden death, Eoin Logue made it 5-4 and with Thomas McMonagle seeing his effort saved by O’Gara (the ball actually smacked off the bar and back into the ‘keeper’s grasp), the Donegal League advance.
