Omagh CBS 1-7 Southwest Donegal 2-7
Patrick O’Donnell’s added time goal sealed a huge win for Southwest Donegal as they beat reigning MacRory Cup champions Omagh CBS in the quarter-final in Healy Park.
Shay Murrin’s men had a slow start and were 1-4 to 0-2 down after 15 minutes, but Darragh Hennigan’s goal made it a one point game at the break.
Shane Callaghan hit two frees and Max Campbell levelled the game at 1-6 apiece with a minute to play before Shane Sweeney put the Donegal men ahead.
Adrian McGurrin kicked an added time free to level, bringing his tally to 1-4 for the day, but in the 64th minute O’Donnell caught a high ball in and fired into the net to seal their place in the final four.
Southwest will now meet Abbey Vocational School in the semi-final, meaning for the first time since 1961, Donegal will have a finalist of the MacRory Cup.
The semi-final has been fixed for Saturday, January 25 at 2pm in Fr Tierney Park.
