O’Donnell hails Boyle impact

Gaoth Dobhair manager Mervyn O’Donnell has hailed the impact Michael Boyle has made to the Magheragallon men this year.

Termon clubman and 2012 All-Ireland winner Boyle has come in to work with O’Donnell, Martin Coll, and John Bosco Gallagher this year and has helped them reach the Donegal SFC Final.

O’Donnell said: “We met before the Milford league game last year which was our final match of the season, and we just had a wee chat. It was an overview of the year – our own wee AGM.

“I just asked the boys what would make things easier, and we looked at other clubs like Kilcar, Glenties, and ‘Eunan’s.

“They all have a manager and a trainer and we didn’t have that. I was trying to do the training and manage, and I’m not a very good trainer anyway, so it was a no-brainer to get someone in.

“Michael Boyle came in and he’s a great lad. He eats, sleeps, and breathes football, and he’s a great man to have.

“He has been around county panels and he’s very tuned in on structures and tactics and these things. Michael has been great this year.”
