Ó Gallachóir set for Irish and Cultural Officer role

The nominations for positions in the Donegal GAA County Board have been confirmed ahead of the County Convention on December 10.

The Glenfin club will host the convention this year in Jackson’s Hotel.

The three main officers will remain in place once again.

Frankie Doherty has completed his five-year term as Assistant Treasurer, and his name is in the mix for Vice-Chairperson alongside the incumbent David McLoone.

Brendan Kelly (St Mary’s, Convoy), Kieran Gallagher (Termon) and Michelle McKenna (Buncrana) have all been nominated for Assistant Treasurer.

It’s also likely that there will be a contest for the Assistant Secretary portfolio. Darren Collins (Sean MacCumhaills) has been in the role for the last 12 months but Michelle McKenna and Sharon McGinty (Glenswilly) are also nominated this time around.

Catríona Sweeney has completed her term  as Irish and Cultural Officer, and Conor Ó Gallachóir (Cloughaneely) is the only nominee for the role.

As always, there’s plenty of interest for the two Ulster Council roles, with Andy Doherty (Red Hughs) looking to go again, while Frankie Doherty (St Eunan’s), Conor McDermott (St Mary’s, Convoy) and William Doogan (Aodh Ruadh) all nominated.
