NoWDOC to move to new premises in town next week

by Louise Doyle

NOWDOC in Letterkenny will relocate to new premises next week, the HSE has confirmed.

The GP treatment centre will move from its current location in Oldtown to Errigal Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Hub, Kilmacrennan Road, Letterkenny, (F92 NP23), from 6pm on Tuesday, November 26.

The NoWDOC GP Out of Hours Service provides an urgent out of hours GP service to patients in Donegal and south Leitrim. It is by appointment only. There is no walk-in service.

The HSE has said patients will not be affected by the relocation of services.

The telephone contact number for NoWDOC remains unchanged, and anyone wishing to contact the service can do so by telephoning 0818 400 911.

The move comes a year after it was first mooted.

A lease for the current NoWDOC premises in Oldtown has been in place since April 2005, but a notice to quit the building was issued in December 2022 by the landlord’s solicitor to the HSE.

Dermot Monaghan, Chief Officer, Community Healthcare Organisation, had previously told a meeting of the Regional Health Forum West that the notice to quit was issued due to concerns around fire safety.

He had said that the move to the new location was “imminent” but moved to reassure that the service was not facing imminent eviction from its current location.
