Caitriona Jennings shattered the world record at the Tunnel Hill 100 Mile event in Illinois.
The Letterkenny AC athlete excelled in the gruelling 100 mile challenge crossing the line in a time of 12:37.04 to carve over five minutes off the previous record.
Later in the month, Jennings was named Ultra Runner of the Year at the National Athletic Awards.
Caolan McFadden (Cranford) came second in the Under 20 National Cross Country Championships in Derry, while Amy Greene (Finn Valley) was second in the U23 women’s race. That meant both were selected for the Ireland team bound for the European Championships in Portugal.
The Finn Valley AC senior women grabbed silver in the National Senior Cross Country Championships, while the club’s Under 16 girls team won gold, and the Under 12 girls group took bronze.
It was confirmed that LAC runners had raised €4000 for the Donegal Hospice from their involvement in the Dublin City Marathon.

It was a great month for the Burt senior hurlers.
They won the Ulster Club Junior hurling title when they defeated Lavey in Celtic Park.
It wasn’t looking good when Ronan McDermott was sent off in the first half but they refused to wilt and came back to win by 0-20 to 1-16.
Burt then had a two-week break to prepare for a trip to London for the Twinning Final.
Once again, it was a close battle but the Hibernian Park men came through to win by 1-15 to 0-17 with Aidan McKinney scoring the winner.
The Setanta senior hurling team got their first taste of the Ulster Club Senior Hurling Championship but were well beaten by St John’s from Antrim at Owenbeg.

Four Masters retained the Under 21 ‘A’ Football Championship title when they got the better of Naomh Conaill in the final at Fr Tierney Park.

Naomh Conaill’s U23 LGFA team enjoyed success when they got the better of Burt/Naomh Pádraig, Uisce Chaoin in the Platinum final.
St Eunan’s ladies team won the U23 Gold Final when they proved too strong for Naomh Columba.
