DONEGAL County Council Cultural Services and Vesterålen Cultural Council (Norway) are delighted to offer a unique opportunity to a visual artist from Donegal.
The artist will be afforded the opportunity to travel to Northern Norway to create new work over a residency period of two weeks this autumn/winter.
The offer follows on from two very successful residencies, completed in 2013 and 2014, by Letterkenny film-maker Steve McCollum and by Creeslough textile artist, Caoimhe Friel.
The offer is open to artists from Donegal working in any visual medium – including painting, sculpture, photography, film, digital visual or mixed media.
The residency offer includes Travel to and from Norway, accommodation and workspace as well as a daily allowance towards board and subsistence.
The region of Vesteralen is a cluster of five sea islands linked by bridges, located 230km north of the Arctic Circle. The are two possible residency sites – Gallery Hildreland at Straume on the seaward side of Bø municipality and Kiilgården in Andenes at the northernmost tip of Andøy Island.
The residency may be undertaken over any two consecutive weeks between September 1 and December 10, 2015 and takes place in the context of EDGES Three Sides of The Same Sea – the transnational cultural partnership of Donegal County Council Cultural Services, East Iceland Cultural Council and Vesteralen Cultural Council.
