Noreen McGarvey looking forward to election challenge

NEWLY selected Fianna Fáil candidate for west Donegal, Noreen McGarvey, is ready for the challenge ahead and looking forward to the campaign to get elected in May’s County Council elections.

Noreen Mc Garvey.

Speaking this week, Ms McGarvey said west Donegal is being “continuously neglected by this Government”, adding that investment levels are falling behind that of the rest of Ireland.
“It is self-evident that the rural/urban divide is still widening, with many parts of Donegal falling further behind. Investment is urgently required in our infrastructure, in our housing needs, in our medical services, in DEIS supported schools and those schools wishing to avail of DEIS. We are also seeing the erosion of services in our education system at primary and secondary level and the removal of various services from rural areas such as post offices and Garda barracks.”
Ms McGarvey continued: “There are regulations that are making living in rural Ireland difficult be that planning for one off houses, access on to the N56 or the various EU directives. These are all directly negatively impacting on the lives and sustainability of our communities in West Donegal.”
The Fianna Fail candidate said the County Council elections are “more important now than ever before” and said it is “critical that we as a community elect new and enthusiastic voices who will best articulate our views and representative us on the Council”.
She added: “I look forward to campaign ahead and with the support of the general public together we can start to make a difference to how local decisions are taken on the council.
I wish to thank the delegates who selected me at the convention in Burtonport. I greatly appreciate the support shown to me on the night and subsequently by way of messages and phone calls since my selection.”
Ms McGarvey concluded: “I look forward to working with my party, with my friends and supporters along with members of the various communities in order to secure election to Donegal County Council. The challenge ahead is going to be tough but I am ready to meet that challenge especially with the support of the party and friends.”
