No Donegal/North border controls with Brexit – Jackson

Donegal drivers will not face border controls if Britain leaves the EU, despite the Taoiseach’s claims, according to General Election candidate Tim Jackson.
Jackson says that such “scaremongering” by the Taoiseach has always been used by pro-EU parties to influence public opinion.
“For the Taoiseach to suggest we will have border controls is absurd. Freedom of movement between Britain and Ireland was secured long before the existence of the EU, and has been codified in a 2011 Common Travel Area memorandum signed by the Taoiseach’s own Government. I think the Taoiseach’s time might be better spent solving the trolley and homeless crisis, rather than muddying the waters in another EU referendum.
“The Government is suggesting Ireland has a choice between stability and chaos. I see it differently: we have a choice between a truly independent Dáil, or one stifled and dominated by blind party loyalties,” Mr Jackson said.
