IT appears that US President Joe Biden will not visit Donegal during his trip to Ireland next week.
President Biden was invited to Donegal by Congressman Brendan Boyle who has family ties to the county.
However, the White House has confirmed that President Biden will arrive in Ireland next Tuesday April 11 but Donegal is not yet on the itinerary.
President Biden will first travel to Belfast from April 11-12 to mark the ‘tremendous progress’ since the signing of the Good Friday Agreement 25 years ago.
A statement released by The White House said the President wants “to underscore the readiness of the United States to support Northern Ireland’s vast economic potential to the benefit of all communities.”
From April 12 to 14, Mr Biden will hold various engagements, including in Dublin, County Louth, and County Mayo, where he will deliver an address to celebrate the deep, historic ties that link our countries and people.
The statement said additional information about the trip will be forthcoming.
