No arrests made as Gardai swoop on Ferry’s

Jim Ferry.

GARDAI have confirmed that no one was arrested in a raid yesterday on the premises of Donegal businessman Jim Ferry.

Officers swooped on Rossbracken near Manorcunningham early yesterday morning. It is understood they also visited Mr Ferry’s home.

The raids were carried out under the Waste Management Act and come days after a High Court judge ordered the businessman be detained for breaching a court order.

In April Jim Ferry was given three weeks to clear his Rossbracken site of thousands of tonnes of illegally dumped rubbish. He appeared back in court in July and was given one final opportunity to comply with the court order.

Jim Ferry appeared before the High Court in Dublin again last Tuesday where District Judge Max Barrett heard that little or none of the rubbish had been cleared.

As a result, Justice Barrett said Jim Ferry should be arrested and remanded into custody. Mr Ferry left the court before the judge’s order could be activated.
