Nightclub becomes day club in aid of St Patrick’s parade

BY SEÁN P. FEENY
THIS Saturday afternoon one of Letterkenny’s top nightclub venues will open its doors during the day for an event to help raise funds for the Cathedral town’s St Patrick’s Day parade.

INK nightclub on Main Street is hosting kiddies and tots disco with all moneys raised from the event going to help pay for the annual parade.

The proprietors of the venue decided to hold the fundraiser and lend their support to Letterkenny Chamber upon hearing that funding was proving a real challenge this year.

Proprietor, Jason Black said: “This will be an event for the family to enjoy with their little ones. There will be face painting, Coco the Clown will be there, lots of Disney characters and much more.

Mr Black, who is also a former chamber president, added: “It’s a wonderful family day out and we encourage mammys and daddys, grannys and grandads to join in and make it a real fun family time.

All proceeds from the kiddies and tots disco are going to help the running of the parade and as a community based business were delighted to be able to assist.

“Let’s pray we have good weather and the day will lift everyone’s spirits and be proud to be Irish.” The kiddies and tots disco starts straight after the parade and will continue until 6pm.

Chamber President John Watson welcomed the support saying Letterkenny Chamber has been organising the St Patrick’s Day parade for many years and relies on the ‘marvellous support’ and generosity of the business community.

Mr Watson said an initiative such as this kiddies and tots disco organised by INK and Voodoo will be a ‘fantastic’ fundraiser. “We are delighted that Jason and his team have decided to donate the proceeds of this event to the parade fund.”
