DONEGAL’S Central Council delegate Niall Erskine was recently elected to serve on the GAA’s powerful Coiste Bainistí for 2014.
Killybegs native Erskine was appointed at last month’s Congress at Croke Park and he told Monday night’s county committee meeting in Ballybofey that sorting club fixtures should be the big aim for the GAA.
“Club fixtures are a mess and this is the biggest challenge facing the GAA,” he said.
“We want to solve the problem and I will do everything that I can to sort the mess out. That’s what it is – a total and utter mess. Club players are not being treated fairly.”
Mr Erskine thanked those who had supported him and is looking forward to the role.
“It is a big honour for myself and for my club, Killybegs,” he said.
“It would be remiss of me not to mention Tir Chonaill Gaels, a club I also spent many years with.
“Donegal is a popular county and it will be an easy county to represent.”
