A NEWTOWNCUNNINGHAM gym owner was recently honoured at a civic reception for his remarkable achievement in completing the 200-mile Sahara Challenge.
The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council paid tribute to local athlete Danny Quigley, owner of DQ Fitness, after he completed the challenge in support of local mental health services.
Danny’s feat, which saw him endure extreme physical conditions and mental strain across one of the world’s harshest environments, was undertaken to raise awareness and vital funds for mental health support within the local community.
Mayor of DCSDC, Cllr Ruairí McHugh, praised Danny’s determination, resilience, and selflessness, noting that his challenge highlighted both the importance of mental wellbeing and the power of individual action to drive positive change.
