WITH their eagerly anticipated second album nearly completed and recorded right here in Donegal, The Villagers have just announced a special date at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre.
To celebrate the release of their new album, Awayland (Release Date: January 11), the popular band fronted by Conor J. O’Brien will headline at the famous Dublin venue on March 21 and tickets went on sale Friday.
Awayland is the follow up to the band’s Mercury-nominated and Ivor Novello Award winning debut, Becoming a Jackal, and both were co-produced by band member, Tommy McLaughlin from Termon.
The band has spent a lot of time in Donegal recently, recording at Tommy’s state-of-the-art Attic Sound studio in his native parish.
With Tommy already being the co-producer on two Irish No 1 albums, The Villagers’ Becoming A Jackal and Cathy Davey’s The Nameless, Tommy and Attica Sound are very much in demand, attracting acts such as Dublin’s Henrietta Game, singer/songwriter Foy Fance and Donegal’s own In Their Thousands to record in Termon.
