New traffic cameras installed on Polestar roundabout

DONEGAL County Council has installed new “state-of-the-art” traffic cameras at the Polestar Roundabout to keep motorists informed on the current traffic conditions.

With 24-hour surveillance of the roundabout available for the public to access, Cllr Donal Coyle said despite the new cameras being “useful”, they will not change the volume of traffic coming into Letterkenny.

Speaking to the Donegal News, Cllr Coyle said the only solution to Letterkenny’s traffic issues is the Bonagee Link Bridge.

“That is the only solution and that is the solution that everybody in Letterkenny and the whole North West is looking for.

“I would be hoping that when the business plan goes to the Cabinet early in the New Year that the Ten-T, which includes the Bonagee Link, will get the go-ahead.

“I just keep repeating the necessity for the Bonagee Link, there is no doubt about it, that is the major project that Letterkenny and the whole North West needs,” he said.
