DONEGAL County Council’s Winter Roads Programme has begun with the addition of six new routes in the Letterkenny/Milford Municipal District to be gritted during poor weather conditions.
The 25 km of routes added are Downings to Carrigart; Trentagh to Letterkenny; Kerrykeel to Glenvar; Ramelton Town; Crievesmith to Newmills Road and the Carrygally Listillion Road.
According to the roads report given by Roads Area Engineer David McElwaine to a recent meeting of the Municipal District, since the last winter maintenance season a review of the programme has been carried out.
The review involved a consultation process between the elected members and the roads staff. As a consequence of the review 25km of additional sections of road in the Letterkenny Milford MD have been added to the winter maintenance programme for the 2021/2022 season.
