A new locally-owned veterinary clinic, Northwest Vets, has opened its doors in Burt, Inishowen, catering to the needs of farmers and animal owners in North Donegal and the Derry-Tyrone border region.
The practice, founded by Maria Barron and Niall McSharry, offers a personalised alternative to corporate veterinary services, with a focus on livestock and equine care.
Maria Barron, who has nearly 30 years of experience in veterinary management, and Niall McSharry, an accomplished livestock and equine vet, are joined by Michael Doherty, a seasoned practitioner with expertise in caring for a range of animals.
Maria expressed her excitement about the new venture, saying, “We are very excited to create this new chapter in local veterinary care.”
The Northwest Vets team is dedicated to offering a full range of veterinary services, including 24/7 emergency call-out, routine farm visits, and specialised equine services.
According to Maria: “We are all committed to the delivery of personalised and truly independent vet services at the most competitive prices,” emphasising that “exceptional service with a friendly and personal touch” is central to their work.
Northwest Vets also provides cutting-edge services such as Faecal Egg Count (FEC) testing and a new delivery service for products and supplies, making it the only local clinic offering these options.
