An Clochán Liath CLG are looking for support from local businesses for the launch of their new hurling competition, Comortas Iománaíochta na Gaelige, which is the first competition of its kind in the country.
Those organising the event are keen to see the competition eventually grow into the hurling equivalent of the hugely successful Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta, which features teams from all over Ireland.
The event which takes place tomorrow, Saturday, October 21 will consist of 4 teams, two from Gaeltacht areas, An Clochán Liath CLG and Iorrás from Mayo, and two teams made up of Irish speakers outside of Gaeltacht areas, Leitir Ceanainn and Dhoire Thesa from Derry.
The competition has been approved by Croke Park as an unofficial pilot programme to establish the viability of an annual Comortas Iománaíochta na Gaelige, if successful it will likely become an annual event on a much larger scale.
The event is currently sponsored by Pleanáil Teanga na Rosann, Donegal County Council, An Clochán Liath and Baile Seirbhíse Gaeltachta. It is further backed by Donegal GAA County Board and An Clochán Liath CLG.
If you are interested in sponsoring the event you can contact Cormac Hartnett on 087 699 7762 or by email at cormac@hartnetthayes.com.
