APPROVAL has been granted for a new family resource centre in Gaoth Dobhair, located at Machaire Chlochair, Doirí Beaga.
Donegal TD Pat the Cope Gallagher warmly welcomed today’s announcement by the Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley.
Speaking after the announcement, Pat the Cope Gallagher said: “I am particularly pleased to see Gaoth Dobhair included in this latest round of approvals.
“This is a major boost for the community and will ensure that families in the wider Gaeltacht area have access to vital supports close to home.
“Family Resource Centres play a crucial role in supporting children, parents, and communities, especially in areas facing social or economic challenges.
“The decision to establish ten additional centres is a strong and welcome investment in community wellbeing.”
He added that the new Gaoth Dobhair centre will provide a hub for family support, community development, and social inclusion initiatives, ensuring that local needs are met through a community‑led model.
“This is a positive and forward‑looking step for Gaoth Dobhair and for communities across the country,” he said.
“I look forward to seeing the new centre here in Gaoth Dobhair begin their work and deliver meaningful support to families in the years ahead.
“I would like to thank Garry Glennon Manager of the LYFS and his team for submitting a very compressive application in respect of Gaoth Dobhair.”
