DONEGAL County Library Service and the Frances Browne Literary Festival are inviting blind and vision-impaired storytellers, resident in Ireland, to get involved and submit pieces for inclusion in a digital anthology to be launched in the autumn, funded through Creative Ireland.
They’re hoping to create an eclectic collection of work that’ll include all genres of writing: from simple stories to song lyrics, from spoken word poetry to slice-of-life non-fiction.
Submissions can be inspired by the life and works of Frances Browne and they can also reflect the lived experiences of the storytellers.
Submissions can also be drawn from the storytellers’ imaginations and can be an original mix of all three of the above.
Online information sessions will be scheduled to introduce blind and vision-impaired writers to Frances Browne’s life-story and body of work.
They will also provide an overview of different creative writing styles and offer tips on establishing a writing practice.
The project facilitator will also be available via email, during the submissions window, to respond to queries.
Dates for online info sessions are Monday, March 10 at 7pm; Monday, March 24 at 7pm and Monday, March 31 at 7pm. Interested individuals only need to attend one information session from the available dates.
The submissions window is now open and will close on Sunday, August 31.
Writers whose work is included in the anthology will be invited to its launch during October’s Frances Browne Literary Festival in Stranorlar.
Multiple submissions from individual writers are welcome.
