The Triax Neighbourhood Management Team is set to launch ‘Better Together’, a cross border pilot project, in the Lifford and Clonleigh Resource Centre today from 12pm to 2pm.
The aim of the cross border pilot project is to identify and address shared issues and challenges faced by border communities through training and other activities around health and safety in the community. The target areas for the project are Killea, Lifford, Muff and Buncrana.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Project Worker, Joanne Fullerton said ‘Better Together’ is a fantastic opportunity for people in border communities.
“Over the course of 2023, we will be providing allotment regeneration, gardening classes, cooking classes, cancer awareness and road safety awareness workshops. Further, we will be encouraging people to avail of various capacity-building training opportunities,” she said.
Prior to the launch, Joanne said they wanted to run the cross-border project to address the fact the border regions are underserved.
“This project is really important for the peace and prosperity of the local area especially on the uncertain political climate. A supportive community network in the border region is essential for improving the lives of local residents,” she said.
The programme will be launched in Killea at the end of February and in Buncrana and Muff in March.
