DONEGAL’S new campaign begins in earnest on Saturday at 1pm when they face Derry at Páirc Coláiste Ailigh.
Rory Gallagher’s team are not allowed to start collective training until December 8, but they have been granted permission to face the Oak Leaf County this weekend.
Donegal last played at the beginning of August when they were well beaten by Mayo in the All-Ireland quarter-final.
Gallagher has freshened up his panel this year with 12 new faces, and he says they are looking forward to getting started on Saturday.
“This year the lads have had a bit more time, and they’re hungry to get going again. They have all been working away in the gym on their own specific programmes,” said the Donegal manager.
“We have a lot of new additions to the panel this year and we’re looking forward to seeing how they get on.”
