A FRESH call has been made for the installation of bus shelters around the Finn Valley.
Raising the issue, Cllr. Patrick McGowan said that there are “people getting soaked in the rain” waiting at bus stops.
“You would think that it is an easy fix to try and get a couple of bus shelters and it is something that should be a priority,” he said.
The matter was raised by a council delegation at a meeting with Transport Infrastructure Ireland before Christmas, but it informed councillors that it was outside of its remit and that the National Transport Authority is responsible.
“A couple of obvious places are crying out for bus shelters,” Cllr. McGowan told the monthly meeting of Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District Council.
Senior Roads Engineer, Clare McGeever, informed the meeting that the council has been liaising with the National Transport Authority.
She said she would send out a list to councillors of locations that have been proposed.
