A PRIVATE bus company has taken the brave step of opening two new transport routes in west Donegal, without any government support.
From tomorrow, Mangan Tours will operate the two new routes, one between Gweedore and Falcarragh and the other between Falcarragh and Dungloe via Gweedore.
They will also extend their existing service from Dungloe and Gweedore, via Falcarragh, to and from Letterkenny up to six times a day.
Following the demise, and eventual collapse, of the Lough Swilly bus company, thousands of people in the west have been left without a proper transport service.
This covered a vast area along the N56 and the coast road along Meenlaragh, Bloody Foreland, Gweedore, Annagry, Kincasslagh and Burtonport.
According to Mr Joe Mangan, the new routes will make it easy for people to travel between Dungloe, Gweedore, Falcarragh and Letterkenny, six days per week and will also be a huge benefit to businesses in these towns.
