Detective Chief Superintendent Cliona Richardson has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner for the North West Region.
Cliona Richardson is currently a Detective Chief Superintendent and is head of the Liaison and Protection Section of the Garda Síochána.
She has been promoted to replace Michael McElgunn who is set to transfer to Garda National Crime & Security Intelligence Service (GNCSIS), Garda Headquarters.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris welcomes the promotion to the Rank of Assistant Commissioner in An Garda Síochána of Cliona Richardson which will take effect from tomorrow, Saturday.
“Cliona has a wide and extensive breadth of policing experience and knowledge. This will be of great benefit to the Garda Senior Leadership team and to the North West region. Cliona’s leadership will also be invaluable as An Garda Síochána continues on our modernisation programme through the implementation of A Policing Service For Our Future,” said Garda Commissioner Harris.
Assistant Commissioner Cliona Richardson has over 30 years experience working in the force.
Meanwhile Superintendent Goretti Sheridan has been transferred to Letterkenny Garda Station while Superintendent Barry Doyle has been moved to Buncrana garda Station.
