THE arrival of a new jeep and van for Stranorlar Fire Service was welcomed at the station by Cathaoirleach Martin Harley on Tuesday night.
Cllr Harley spoke of the obvious sense of pride of the personnel in the state-of-the-art building and the good order they maintain it in.
“When I met all the members of the Fire Brigade led by Station Officer Joe Alexander and his Deputy Sub-Station Officer Michael Patton, I immediately got that sense of pride and professionalism,” Cllr Harley said.
He told members that the van which will be located at Stranorlar Fire Station was an important addition to the local service. The new Skoda jeep is a rostered Senior Fire Officer jeep that will be able to respond to any incident in the county as required.
“These two new vehicles represent a very significant capital investment by the government, an investment somewhere in the region of €120,000, which was mentioned by Gary Martin, Director of Emergency Services, in his speech here today.
“Donegal is rightly very proud of its firefighters. This is a group of people who are very passionate and very dedicated to their roles as fire fighters and to the communities they serve,” Cllr Harley concluded.
He wished Chief Fire Officer Joe McTaggart and his team the very best with the new vehicles.
