Neeson ‘Taken’ by plight of Ukranian refugee children

UKRANIAN children settling in south Donegal have received a visit from Hollywood royalty.

Liam Neeson and Ciarán Hinds are among the cast of ‘In the Land of Saints and Sinners’ which is currently being shot in Glencolmcille and surrounding areas.

When they became aware of the Ukranian children adjusting to life in Donegal after fleeing Russia’s onslaught, the actors decided they wanted to do something for them.

The production team contacted the Donegal Local Development Company (DLDC) which managed to set up a meeting with the children.

“DLDC was contacted by the team from ‘In the Land of Saints And Sinners'” said a spokesperson.

“They heard some of the DLDC team were supporting Ukrainian families in the area and they wanted to meet with the families and give the children a gift bag.

“DLDC happily obliged and the Niall Mor Centre in Killybegs was delighted to host the event. Eighty Ukrainian women and children came along and it was a very emotional and heart-warming event.”
