DONEGAL Ladies senior team manager Michael Naughton will manage the 2010 TG4/O’Neills All-Star team – which includes two Donegal stars – for the forthcoming All-Star tour to Canada in May, it has been confirmed.

The popular Co.Sligo native, who is the manager of the Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny, is back at the helm of the Donegal Ladies this year after taking a one-year sabbatical in 2011.

In 2010, he guided the Donegal Ladies to an All-Ireland Intermediate title as the Tir Chonaill girls defeated Waterford – and he will now be in charge of an All-Star squad that includes two of his stars from that panel.

Glenfin’s All-Star forward Yvonne McMonagle might well be ‘Down Under’ in Australia these days, but the ace attacker will be in Canada for the tour, which heads to Toronto on May 23rd, staying until May 31st.

Naughton and McMonagle are joined on the panel by Moville’s Ciara Hegarty.

The itinerary for the week will include a variety of activities that will allow the 70-strong traveling party to see all the attractions of Toronto and experience a taste of Canadian life.

The highlight of the week will be the All Star game that will be held in Centennial Park on Sunday the 26th of May. This will see the 2010 TG4/O’Neills All Stars take on the 2011 TG4/O’Neills All Stars.

President of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association Pat Quill said that ‘the bi-annual All Star trip has become a highlight of the Ladies Gaelic calendar.

“It is a great reward for our players who work so hard during the year to produce fantastic Championship performances. It also provides the Association with a unrivalled opportunity to promote our game abroad and what better way to promote than to exhibit the game being played at the highest level,” said Mr Quill.
