Donegal 3-14 Tyrone 5-9
Donegal hurlers narrowly missed out on reaching the league final as Tyrone won by a point in O’Donnell Park.
A hectic start saw Peter Kelly score after 15 seconds while Sean McVeigh added a second goal inside three minutes, but by the tenth minute it was 2-2 to 2-1 in Tyrone’s favour with goals from Cormac Munroe and Joe McToal.
Tyrone hit further first half goals through Sean Óg Grogan and Lorcan Devlin, while Kelly got his second goal to make it 4-5 to 3-3 at the break.
Tyrone’s fifth goal came through Tiernan Morgan to go seven clear but Mickey McCann’s side got back to within a point and Luke White’s added time free from halfway went agonisingly close as an understrength Donegal, without almost all of their Setanta players, missed out on a league final with Derry but are still promoted.
