Naomh Conaill mourn the sad passing of Seamus O’Malley

The Naomh Conaill club are in mourning today following the sad passing of stalwart Seamus O’Malley.
The late Mr O’Malley was a valued member of the Naomh Conaill club and always a welcoming face at Davy Brennan Memorial Park.
A club statement read: “Our soft-spoken, gentle-natured and kind-hearted Seamus O’Malley — a man of quiet strength, deep integrity and immense warmth — has sadly passed away this morning.
“A proud Galway man by birth, Seamus truly made Naomh Conaill his home, giving so much of himself to the club and community he loved so dearly.
“Is le fíorbhrón ó chroí a chuala muid go bhfuair Séamus Ó Máille bás ar maidin. Fear uasal ab ea Séamus a bhí dílis don Chlub, i gcónaí toilteanach cuidiú agus tacaíocht a thabhairt don Chlub ar an taobh líne, ar an bpáirc peile no sa seomra cruinnithe, agus leoga chaith sé seal ar an ardán mar bhall de fhoireann Tráth na gCeist. Ar ndóigh ní thig linn dearmad a dhéanamh den ghrá a bhí aige don Ghaeilge, agus blas álainn Chonamara a bhí le cloisteáil go mion is go minic.
“Seamus served Naomh Conaill in many roles over the years, including registrar, secretary and treasurer, always working quietly in the background for the good of the club. He was deeply involved in underage development, managed our reserve teams to Senior B Championship success, and was part of the management team that delivered Senior Championship glory in 2015.
“A tireless contributor to fundraising efforts, he was also a valued member of our Scór Quiz teams, as well as the club lotto team, Golf Classic committee, Harvest Fair Draw committee and 200+ Club draw coordinator. His contribution was vast, his manner modest, and his dedication unwavering.
“While his love of Naomh Conaill was immense, it was his love of his family — and the quiet pride he carried for each of them — that truly defined him. Perhaps his proudest moment as a Naomh Conaill man was witnessing his son John lift the Dr Maguire trophy in October, a moment filled with joy and meaning, and one that will forever remain a treasured memory for the O’Malley family.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences and support to his wonderful wife Bernie, his sons Michael, John and James, daughters-in-law Deirdre and Megan, and his beloved grandchildren Rose, Charlie, Kate and Kayden at this incredibly difficult time.
“Seamus will be fondly remembered, deeply missed and forever respected.
“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”
