THE Naomh Conaill GAA club in Glenties claimed today that they had been ‘vindicated’ after their long running appeal over a black card decision in this year’s club championship was upheld.
After three appeals to the provincial council and Croke Park over the last eight weeks, their appeal relating to the club championship semi-final when a replacement was allowed for the Glenswilly’s Ciaran Bonner was found to be in order. The club was informed of the news on Tuesday evening.
Club Chairman Daniel McGeehan said they were ‘delighted’ with the news. “The problem we have at present is that as we’ve yet to receive the full text of the Ulster Hearings Committee decision. There’s not too much we can say but we’re delighted that it’s finally reached this stage.
“It’s been a long drawn our process but the club is very grateful for the support it has received not only from within Donegal but throughout the country.
“That really struck a chord with us and if this decision helps other clubs who find themselves in a similar position in the future then all the better,” Mr McGeehan said.
