Gaoth Dobhair 2-18 Naomh Conaill 3-17
Naomh Conaill came good in extra-time to defeat Gaoth Dobhair in a pulsating Senior ‘B’ Championship Final at O’Donnell Park.
It was a super match and Naomh Conaill dug deep to claim the win.
Naomh Conaill drew first blood when Daniel Gildea smashed home a penalty in the seventh minute.
Sean Ó Baoill replied with a two-pointer before Oran Doherty and Johnnie Mac Giolla Bhríde swapped scores.
Joseph Shankey fisted a score for Naomh Conaill but Gaoth Dobhair registered the next four with Ó Baoill hitting three and Johnnie Mac Giolla Bhríde also on target.
Danny Brown replied for Naomh Conall but Cronan McFadden then scored a wonderful goal in the 27th minute.
Brown hit back but a two-pointer from Colm Ó Dochartaigh had Gaoth Dobhair 1-9 to 1-4 ahead at the interval.
Ó Baoill struck a third two-pointer when the action resumed.
Naomh Conaill soon got motoring with Danny Brown tapping over a free and a score from play before Tiarnan Ward landed a brace of two-pointers.
Daragh Gallagher levelled matters before a Brown free pushed Naomh Conaill into the lead with 46 minutes played.
Sean Ó Baoill replied with an important free for the Magheragallon men and then Fearghal Delaney gave them the lead with 56 minutes played.
However, Naomh Conaill registered their second major moments later when Shane McDevitt rattled the net.
Gaoth Dobhair came back for more and struck three on the trot from Eamon McGee, Colm Ó Dochartaigh and Cian Mac Giolla Bhríde but Thomas McDevitt’s last-gasp equaliser sent the match to extra-time.
Naomh Conaill had the better of the first half of additional time with Brown scoring twice while Ward registered a free.
Oisin Ó Duibhir hit back with a point and then Gavin Mac Giolla Bhríde tapped in a goal in the 73rd minute.
However, Naomh Conaill responded with a major of their own with Joseph Shankey firing low to the net.
Delaney was denied by a good stop from Jordan O’Donnell before Daragh Gallagher put three points between the sides again.
Gaoth Dobhair needed a goal but Cian Mac Giolla Bhríde’s effort went over the bar and Naomh Conaill prevailed.
