The Glencolmcille side made no mistake in booking their place in Monday’s showpiece final against St Michael’s in the south-west, with Declan McGuire and Oisin McGinley accounting for their Falcarragh opponents in the semi-final.

Between them, they hit 1-11 of the Glen total. McGinley clipped seven points in a fine display of attacking artistry, while it was McGuire’s goal on 23 minutes that gave his side the kick.

“The pressure was off us a wee bit, but it’s great to get into the final,” said Brendan Doherty, the Naomh Columba manager.

“We wanted the boys to put on a show and get into the final for the home crowd and they did it very well.

“We set the tone early on and took it from there.”

On Saturday night, Andrew Kelly and Martin McElhinney hit the goals as St Michael’s saw off Ardara, 2-14 to 0-9, in the first of the semi-finals. Christy Toye made his return to action, while Colm McFadden landed three points to take the Creeslough-Dunfanaghy side to within an hour of a first ever Donegal senior Gaeltacht title.
