Naomh Columba rally late to see off Malin

Malin 1-10 Naomh Columba 2-10

Naomh Columba fended off a late Malin push to reach the Intermediate final as they won by three points in O’Donnell park on Sunday.

The Glen men were never behind in this tie and Paddy Byrne’s palmed goal after five minutes kept their noses in front as they led 1-5 to 0-5 against a Malin side pushed on by the impressive Brendan McLaughlin.

Ryan McNern punched in for a second Naomh Columba goal to lead by six, but a couple points from Sean O’Neill and a Stephen McLaughlin goal levelled the sides coming into the final ten minutes.

Malin were wasteful after finally getting level and it allowed the pacey counter attack of Naomh Columba to see out the game with late points through Michael Callaghan, Shane Callaghan and Aaron Doherty.
