NAOMH Colmcille will hold a light training session in Edinburgh this afternoon as they gear up for their All-Ireland quarter-final with Dunedin Connolly’s tomorrow.
The majority of the 45-person travelling contingent made their way over on the ferry yesterday evening, while Gerard Curran and Ricky Hegarty were set to fly in this morning.
The team will get a run out at the Granton Road pitch, before returning on Saturday for the quarter-final which throws in at 1pm.
Dunedin qualified for this stage after defeating Sean McDermotts of Birmingham in the All-Britan Junior Championship Final in Leeds last month.
They were also crowned British champions last year and defeated Leinster champions Rosenallis (Laois) at the All-Ireland quarter-final stage before losing out to Tyrone club Rock in the semi-final.
Naomh Colmcille were crowned Ulster champions two weeks ago after beating Belnaleck (Fermanagh), but team manager Ryan McKinley admits they face a tough encounter.
“They definitely won’t fear us. They were in this competition before so it’s not new territory for them like it is for us.
“They beat the Leinster champions last year in the quarter-final so they are obviously a good team.
“We will just prepare as best we can this week, and if we can get to the right performance levels, we’ll not be too far away on Saturday.”
