Naomh Conaill 0-8 Sean MacCumhaill’s 2-9
MacCumhaill’s reserves capped off a dominant league campaign with a seven point victory in the Division 1B final over Naomh Conaill in O’Donnell Park.
A close game throughout until the final five minutes, MacCumhaill’s were never behind and two points each from Daithi McMahon and Aaron Kelly gave them an 0-4 to 0-3 lead at the break.
But Naomh Conaill stayed close with Daragh Gallagher keeping them just two behind before the first goal went in.
It came on a quick counter as Naomh Conaill pushed up and as McMahon found Jack Duffy, he caught the ball and rolled it past Paudie Brennan into the net with three minutes to go.
The Glenties men pushed for a goal themselves but in the sixth minute of added time MacCumhaill’s caught them for a second goal as Andrew Murray raced forward soccer style from inside his own 65 and despite men in blue running back to try catch the substitute, he kept ahead and rolled the ball into the net inside the 21 metre line.
