ST Vincent’s midfielder Nathan Mullins is expected to link up with the Donegal senior football team in the coming weeks.

Mullins has been invited to join the panel by Donegal manager Declan Bonner after excelling for his club as they claimed the Dublin Senior Championship title last month.

A son of legendary Dublin footballer, Brian Mullins, Nathan was born in Donegal and spent much of his childhood in Carndonagh. His brother still lives in the Inishowen peninsula.

Mullins was involved with the Dublin Under 21 panel when they defeated Donegal in the All-Ireland Final in 2010.

He was asked to join the Donegal Under 21 panel by Jim McGuinness the following season, and played at wing-forward in their victory over Antrim in the Ulster quarter-final, but didn’t feature in the Ulster Championship semi-final defeat against Cavan.

Mullins suffered a long-term injury a couple of seasons ago, but returned to form with St Vincent’s last year and helped his team to the Leinster Club title.

He has also impressed this year as they retained the Dublin title and Bonner is said to have been impressed with Mullins’ performances.

The midfielder’s immediate focus will be with St Vincent’s campaign in Leinster, it’s understood that he is keen to link up with the county panel.

Bonner currently has ten players based in Dublin, and they will do their training under the guidance of Eugene Eivers.
