Mullachdubh man shares special birthday drink with Hollywood star

HOLLYWOOD superstar Jamie Foxx has been told there is a pint in the barrel for him in Bonner’s Bar, Mullachdubh.

The invite was extended by Edward Gillespie when the pair shared a drink to mark the Oscar winner’s birthday.

Edward works with his son Benny, founder of Black Castle Scenery, a company that builds sets for film and television productions.

The pair crossed paths at Shepperton Studios outside London where, according to the website screendaily.com, Foxx is filming the upcoming comedy Back in Action with Cameron Diaz.

The cameras halted to allow the actor to celebrate his 55th birthday. And he kindly invited some of the construction crew up for a glass of BSB Bourbon, a brand he bought last year.

Mullachdubh man Edward Gillespie who got to share a drink with Jamie Foxx. The two men met at Shepperton Studios in London where the Collateral star celebrated his 55th birthday.

“He’s a sound man, he’s no bigger or smaller than me or you,” said Mullachdubh native Edward after meeting the Collateral star.

“It was his birthday and he was just out having the craic when he asked us up for a drink. I said ‘no bother at all lad, I’ll have a drink with you surely’.

“He had no airs or graces about him at all and we chatted away. I said to him ‘You’ll have to come to Bonner’s in Mullachdubh for a pint of Guinness some day’.

He was laughing away at that and said to me ‘You’re not from around here are you?’

“I said ‘I am not, I’m an Irish man’.

“He was great craic altogether.”

The photos of the two men were posted on the Facebook page of Mullachdubh Community Centre where they sparked a flurry of comments.

Thomas Doherty wrote, “Good on you Edward, next stop Bonner’s Bar” while Gerald King said, “I bet that Jamie fella was star struck”.

Bernie Boyle Kavanagh asked whether the actor would be making his way to west Donegal any time soon.

“We hope you invited him to Mullaghduff Edward,” she wrote.
