BALLYBOFEY singer Muireann Bradley has spoken of her honour at performing for President of Ireland Michael D Higgins in Áras an Uachtaráin.
The young musician from Ballybofey has been making a huge name for herself in recent times; coming to prominence after performing on this year’s Jools Holland’s annual Hootenanny on New Year’s Eve.
Since then, she has been all over our television screens, performing everything from ‘The Late Late Show’ to multiple BBC shows.
Muireann’s performance on Wednesday last for President Higgins, his wife Sabina and their guests at a garden party celebrating communities in all their diversities, was a proud moment for all her family.
Posting online afterwards to her Facebook page, Muireann said: “The president gave a long and stirring speech and shows no signs of slowing down despite recent health issues.
“I was accompanied by my parents and my brother Oisín and sister Ríoghainn and it was a real treat for me to be able to have Noreen and Brendan (better known as Granny and Granda) there with me on this special day.
“I think granny enjoyed herself more than anyone there and I think she made a new friend in Sabina.”
