MOYA Doherty has been announced as the Donegal Person of the Year. The creater and producer of the world wide acclaimed musical ‘Riverdance’ will be presented with the coveted award in Dublin on March 7.
She is pictured above with her sons Mark and Paul following the announcement on Tuesday night in Dublin.
Ms Doherty, a native of Pettigo but grew up in Dungloe succeeds Mr Liam Ó Cuinneagáin from Glencolmcille.
Members of the Donegal Association in Dublin who organise the event made the announcement at the Mansion House.
She follows in the footsteps of people such as actor Sean McGinley, Packie Bonner, Daniel O’Donnell, Jim McGuinness and Brian McEniff who have won the award.
Ms Doherty, was recently appointed as the Chairperson of the new RTE Board. She is also the co-founder of Tyrone Productions with her husband, John McColgan
