THE Western Development Commission (WDC) has confirmed the return of popular TV series, ‘Moving West’.
The fourth episode of Season 3 will focus on Donegal and is set to air on Tuesday, November 5th, at 7:30 pm on TG4.
Produced by Dundara Television & Media in collaboration with the WDC and Donegal County Council, ‘Moving West’ captures the community that draws people to the region year on year.
Hosted by Mary Kennedy, episode four features scenes from around Buncrana, Letterkenny, Fanad Head, and Ardara.
Taking a whirlwind trip around the county, the audience are introduced to a variety of real-life stories that showcase the individuals taking a chance on a new life in the west.
One such success story is Teresa and Noel Mullaney, who moved from Monaghan to the Fanad Peninsula. Teresa, now a tour guide at Fanad Lighthouse, shares how her love for Donegal, its culture, and community has transformed her life. The couple is fully immersed in the local lifestyle, enjoying Donegal’s incredible landscapes and welcoming community.
Also featured in the episode is Kevin Sexton, whose family moved from New York to Inishowen in the late 1960s. Kevin has since returned to Donegal, where he is now leading the development of an in novation campus in Letterkenny, which aims to put Donegal on the map as a top destination for global startups.
Donegal County Council is co-funding the episode. Chief Executive, John G. McLaughlin said it was an opportunity to highlight what Donegal has to offer.
“We are delighted to be involved in the Moving West series, which will highlight the richness of life in Donegal. It will offer a wonderful glimpse into our vibrant communities, showcasing not only the stunning scenery but also the incredible stories of individuals who have embraced the opportunities our county has to offer.” he said.
“Through this collaboration, we aim to inspire others to discover the unique lifestyle, career prospects, and warm community spirit that Donegal provides. We take pride in sharing Donegal with our audience and invite both new residents and visitors to discover the enchanting beauty of Donegal.”
Mary Kennedy also expressed her excitement about returning to the county after she first visited in season two. She said: “It’s always a joy to return to Donegal and hear the incredible stories of people who have found a new life in this magical part of Ireland.
“Donegal’s wild beauty and strong sense of community make it a truly unique place, and I’m thrilled to share these stories with our audience.”
