Moville hotel extensively damaged in overnight fire

A hotel in Moville which had been due to take in 100 refugees later this month has been badly damaged in an overnight blaze.

Gardai in Buncrana say they are investigating all circumstances surrounding the fire that occurred at the Caisleann Mara hotel on Moville’s Foyle Street this morning at around 4.30am. A man in his 50s was taken to Letterkenny Hospital for treatment and there has been extensive damage to the premises.

A Garda spokesperson said, “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, anyone with information or anyone that was in the area that may have seen suspicious activity on Foyle Street, Moville, this morning prior or after the fire to contact Buncrana Garda Station on (074) 9320540 the Garda Confidential Line or any Garda Station.”
