A MOUNTCHARLES man has raised more than €1,300 for the Stroke Unit Comfort Fund at Letterkenny University Hospital by turning his 70th birthday celebrations into a fundraiser.
Richard Wilson marked the milestone with family and friends at O’Neills Bar in Letterbarrow on January 24, asking guests to donate to the fund instead of giving presents.
The cause is a personal one for Richard, who suffered a stroke in November 2011, with other close family members also affected by strokes over the years.

He was pleased to present a cheque for €1,310 to the ward on Monday.
