Motorists warned of planned Letterkenny road closure

MOTORISTS are being advised to plan alternative routes as the Main Street in Letterkenny could be set to close next month to facilitate Fair Day.

Donegal County Council intends to make an Order to have Main Street, Letterkenny, from below Forwell Court access road to Larkin’s Lane closed on Monday, August 5, from 12 noon to 6pm.

The Council is advising Burnside Park can get access via Larkin’s Lane and be directed by stewards or gardai.

A number of alternative routes will be in place for motorists.

These include Castle Street to Cathedral Road to Convent Road, St Oliver Plunkett Road to Pearse Road, and Pearse Road to Larkin’s Lane.

The date for objections to the closure of the road closed on Friday.

“In the event of objections being made to the granting of proposed road closures, the Council reserves the right to make the details of the objections available to the licence applicant where it considers it necessary in order to fully consider the validity of any of the objections received,” a council spokesperson said.
