A WOMAN has been left shaken after two men tried to stop the car she was driving in Letterkenny and gain entry to the vehicle.
The woman was alone in her car driving along the Fr McLoone Terrace on Tuesday night shortly after 9pm when she was startled by something being thrown from the hedge side of the road by one male, while the other jumped out on to the road waving his arms for her to stop the car.
The men then tried to open the vehicle doors, but the woman managed to lock them as she drove away.
The woman was physically unhurt but was left shaken by her ordeal.
She went to a relative’s home where she reported the incident to gardaí.
Anyone who was in the area at the time and who has dash cam footage is being urged to share it with gardaí.
Oldtown resident, Colm McDaid said people in the area have been left shocked by the incident.
He said gardaí were unable to attend as they dealing with another incident.
“This response is not acceptable. I will be following this up with local public representatives to have an acceptable level of policing implemented in our community.
“The community do not need this type of behaviour and we will do our best to help stomp it out. I would ask everyone to be extra vigilant and have their properties secured and to look out more on our vulnerable neighbours and friends.”
The Donegal News asked gardaí for a response. It had not been received at the time of going to press yesterday.
