THE wintry weather looks like it is here to stay with a chance of hail showers and thunderstorms forecast for today.
Speaking to the Donegal News, a spokesperson from Met Éireann said more heavy showers are expected today.
“Tonight, there will be clear spells early in the night but cloud will then thicken with the chance of the odd shower. Most areas will remain dry and winds will fall light and variable,” he said.
Temperatures today will range between nine and 11 degrees and there is a possibility we may see some frost tonight as temperatures drop to zero.
On Friday, we will have further scattered showers. Although these showers are expected to remain moderate, they might turn heavy for a while in the afternoon.
Temperatures on Friday will be similar to today and there will be a possibility of frost on Friday night as temperatures plummet again.
Saturday morning will be cloudy with rain expected in the afternoon.
Remaining cloudy throughout the day, the rain is expected to clear in the late evening/early overnight hours.
Temperatures on Saturday will be milder with a high of 12 degrees. Temperatures are expected to be between 6 and 8 degrees on Saturday night.
Although patchy rain is forecasted for Sunday morning, Met Éireann said some milder weather is on the way.
“We will get some hazy sunny spells on Sunday afternoon. On Sunday evening those showers should die off and there will be some clear spells on Sunday night into Monday morning,” he said.
With Sunday expected to be mostly dry, temperatures are on the rise with highs of 17 degrees expected.
The mild weather is expected to continue into the early days of next week.
