ALMOST €9,000 has been raised for Doctors Without Borders following a number of musical performances.
Rann na Feirste’s adopted son Harald ‘Mór’ Juengst was behind the beautiful Healing Hands for ‘Doctors Without Borders’ charity CD.
It featured a selection of top class traditional and folk musicians and singers from Donegal.
Among them were Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Manus
Lunny (Capercaillie) and Eamon McElhom (Solas, Stockton’s Wing) to name but a few.
The album had its first launch on July 23, 2023 in Áislann Rann na Feirste, followed by another launch in Leo’s Tavern, Meenaleck, Crolly, on July 27.
Donations to the cause reached almost €7,000, with CD sales close to 500.
A further series of musical performaces in Dungloe have since boosted the funds raised by another €2,000.
Harald held a number of pre-Christmas musical activities in Dungloe, playing the handpan, at The Cope, Supervalu, Lidl and Aldi.
“I collected the absolutely amazing sum of €2,000. What a magic result with the generosity of the Donegal people. Our standing for the
Doctors without Borders is now close to €9,000, wow!,” said Harald. Doctors Without Borders comprise medical teams who act fast to save people’s lives in conflict zones.
Prior to coming to fruition, Harald’s fundraising project had been in the works for five years.
