by Louise Doyle

A SPECIAL gathering to celebrate the legacy and music of the late Ramelton musician, Paul Mooney, will take place on what would have been his 32nd birthday.

Family, friends and former band mates of the talented musician will gather in The Cottage bar, Letterkenny, on Saturday, February 15, for a night of celebration aptly titled, ‘Moonfest’.

Mr Mooney lost his life in a road traffic collision on the Letterkenny to Lifford Road in December 2023, just days before Christmas.

The special night will feature performances by Boy M5, Mr Mooney’s former band, as well as The Ephades, Without Willow, Beware of the Beast and many more incredible acts.

Kyle O’Neill, Boy M5, said: “This special event lands on Paul’s birthday, and we’re honouring him exactly the way he would have wanted: with a line-up of great music, laughter and love.

“Let’s come together as one community, friends and family to celebrate Paul’s indelible impact on music, and the lives he touched.

“Whether you’re here to relive memories, make new ones, or simply enjoy some amazing music, this will be a night to remember.”

Doors open at 7.30pm, with performances beginning at 8pm.

“Let’s fill the night with music, love and the light of the moon,” said Mr O’Neill.
