Molloy wary of Cavan threat

Anthony Molloy

Donegal’s 1992 All-Ireland winning captain Anthony Molloy says the county’s senior footballers must tread carefully ahead of their Ulster Championship tussle with Cavan next week.

The bookmakers have made Donegal clear favourites for the match, and Declan Bonner’s team are priced at 4/11 to win in Ballybofey, with Cavan very much the underdogs at 11/4.

However, the Breffni men are coming with momentum after a promising league campaign, and Molloy anticipates a close battle on the river Finn.

“It’s a potential banana skin game for us,” said Molloy.

“At the start of the season, you would probably have expected Donegal to win it no problem. They were the Division 1 side and Cavan were in Division 2.

“That’s all changed now. Donegal were relegated and Cavan were promoted.

“Cavan are in a good place, and their confidence is high, and they’ll be throwing everything they have at Donegal.”
